Hi
I got into tepper but know that cmu has a rep for all work no play. Is this true also for Tepper undergrads? And how hard/how much is the courseload fro tepper?

Unless you are doing a difficult double major or minor, Tepper workload is super easy tbh and I’m in Tepper so I know. Tepper kids have fun compared to other CMU kids if you’re just doing Tepper. But a lot of kids take difficult classes to supplement Tepper degree
@gameofcodez how feasible for a Tepper student to do a CS minor? Is the workload going to be very heavy? Also, is it easy for a Tepper student to land a job in West coast, such as Bay Area?
@caterpillar2017 very feasible for a Tepper student to do a CS minor. The CS workload is heavy - even for the minor. But the core Tepper workload is never very heavy.
As long as you network / contact / apply to firms located on the West Coast you should be fine.
@its242amrightnow thank you very much for the reply. Sorry that I was traveling so didn’t see it until now. It seems like the workload is different for different minor…some are easier and some are more difficult. If the long term goal is to land a job in IB or Consulting firm, do you think if it’s more helpful to take a easier minor and keep a great GPA, or, to take a more hard core minor such as CS, but ends up not so good GPA?
@caterpillar2017 IB is going to be really hard to break into regardless since Tepper is a non target school. You have to think about which minor will help you do IB or consulting. Personally although CS is super impressive and will set you apart it doesn’t seem to me like a CS minor would be super relevant for IB or consulting. I think GPA matters less than your minor so in general I would say go for the more impressive minor over the GPA. (But ideally have both)
Thank you @gameofcodez. Very helpful advice!
