check your cuny first status. what does it say? you’d need to take the exam regardless unless you have taken calc and English
@anxiet yes, it most likely means they accepted you!
if they didn’t send him an acceptance offer, means nothing. the school is not exactly uniform when it comes to these processings. i have the transfer office tell me i dont need the exam, then i have the exam office tells me i do need the exam.
Usually when they’re telling you about an exam (whether you need to take it or not) is because the school has accepted you.
that needs to be stated on the status. and the fee needs to be payed. there’s different department of the school and they are not in line with each other evidently. and he needs to be on top of it.
does anyone know what time the macaulay decisions will be released tomorrow?
I know that, but it’s kind of a hint he got in. Until the actual acceptance is shown on CUNY First.
My cunyfirst status says it’s completed and under review however my friend got accepted before he was told to take the exam back in February so I was confused
I applied to medgar Evers college as well and I’m still waiting to see if I’ve been accepted. My CUNYfirst still says it’s under review. When should I expect anything? Also what is a portal?? Am I supposed to have one? Never heard of anything about that before.
As early as 12 am. Wish you the best!
@dupsycandy Thank you! A friend of mine did get her decision sent at 12 am from queens. Do you have an idea what time the others will be out? Last year they came out at around 11 am
@anxiet the placement testing just determines your proficiency of math and English class. it solely determine if u need those classes or not. nothing to do with acceptance. the admission office from Baruch (not cuny) are the people you need to call.
@aridaisy it the word “complete” aren’t there on your status. then the cuny admission office didn’t finish processing it. do yo usee the word “required” somewhere? contact cuny by phone even if its impossible to get through. after you have been accepted to the school, they will send you an email about your cuny portal
@wwwdots I literally just found a required thing I had yet to do and did it at 4 am so I feel like I messed up big time which I didn’t realize
“Baruch Honors Program” is macaully right?
Mine from Lehman College arrived just a few minutes past 12am.
@STEM2017 I apologize for the confusion regarding the math placement exam e-mail. Please allow me to clarify the new requirements for our Grove School of Engineering at the City College of New York (CCNY). Due to the extremely rigorous nature of our engineering programs, it was determined by our engineering faculty (as of Spring 2019) that placement into Calculus on our university’s Math 6 College Level Placement exam would be necessary to provide the greatest chance of success in graduating from the Grove School.
First, we review the academic records of all engineering applicants, and after choosing those showing the most potential for engineering – certainly emphasizing math and science performance in our reviews – we invite them to take the placement exam. Placement into Calculus secures admission for the Grove School. Any student who does not place into Calculus is still offered admission to the college under an Undeclared/Liberal Arts track with the potential to work his/her way into the Grove School.
I hope this provides clarity to the received e-mail. I absolutely understand how difficult the college choice process is, and the wide range of college choices available. However, before considering not to pursue City College as an option for engineering, I would like to provide you with a few links to videos of people discussing their CCNY experiences/opinions (in general and with engineering).

The Grove School is named after Andrew Grove (Class of 1960), founder and CEO of the Intel Corporation. Considering our long and rich history, he rightfully referred to City College as the “American Dream Machine.” If you wish to learn more or visit the campus and meet our students, please feel free to e-mail me at cparker@ccny.cuny.edu.
In my application under transcript status it indicates under action that it has been received/not evaluated how long will it take for my application to show complete and under review.
Am an international student
@CParker Thank you for that kind and thoughtful response. The Grove policy makes sense. I will encourage my son to take the placement exam. Do you know approximately how long the exam takes? This info will be helpful.
Also, you seem like an official rep of CUNY. If so, you should ask the College Confidential moderators to designate you as such. This forum really benefits from official college reps. I’m tagging a moderator here - @skieurope
Thanks again!
@STEM2017 He is designated as such:
@skieurope Ok sorry about that. I only saw “Junior Member.”
Thanks
