I am admitted as an English major, but I'd like to change it to communication studies. Is it possible for me to do that? (On the UC app it said that comm. studies is only available to juniors...but I really want it!)

For my career, I'd like to go into the publications industry (i.e. magazines/newspapers), so if it's not possible for me to have comm. studies as my major, what other major would best suit my line of interest?

If you want to go into writing for a newspaper or a magazine what you do in school (Daily bruin, editor etc) is much more important than you're major.

BTW when is daily bruin hiring? Website said apps would be up 10th week but they never were??

Where are good places to buy bubble tea near UCLA?
THERE ARE NO GOOD PLACES TO BUY BOBA TEA NEAR UCLA
if you take the bus (mta.net) or have a friend with wheels, there's volcano on sawtelle that's got decent tea. wait. i didn't get it with boba. so idk about their boba. bleh, i hate boba. it's so easy to get wrong.

Also what are your opinions on the quality of the dorms?
they suck. hard. actually, no. i'm just bitter because i'm returning to a hall next year.
buuuutttt. it's REALLY SWEET how close you are to campus. really. really. sweet. and the meals are great, too. you really can't beat being able to get a meal pretty all day until 2 a.m. yeah, people say you get sick of the selection, but they are spoiled es who don't know how to be grateful. seriously.
halls are nothing to shake a stick at, but it's pretty cool knowing a whole floor of people. be VERY VERY social the first few weeks, before everyone settles into niches. rooms are tiny though, but you deal. move in quickly so the slob roommate doesn't get the nicest drawers. because SHE WON'T KNOW HOW TO UTILIZE THEM AND KEEP HER STUFF IN PLACE SO THE DRAWERS AND CLOSE. AND THAT * IS ANNOYING!!!!
plazas are ing sweet. i *ing hate everyone in a plaza. lucky *es.
idk about suites except they are the farthest from campus so the suite ****es hate their suites. ask namaste.

Should I bring a TV if I want to play video games in my spare time?
YES YES YES YES YES
haha the other day the boyf snatched a 32" flatscreen from best buy for $500. it's ****ing sweet. and yeah, video games eat up our time. bye bye 3.9...

what section lax? news and viewpoint won't be taking applications till next fall. i think arts and entertainment might be spring, at least they were last year.

It's okay. My friend told me it was really good, so I was expecting something crazy. And wow use that meal card for something more expensive, haha. Boba is like 3.25 in ackerman!

birdman,
the marching band IS the band at football games. i just didn't know if you meant symphonic band or something.

for games there are two bands: marching does football in the fall quarter, and varsity plays at other sports (basketball, etc) during the rest of the year. so if you want to do football, you're going to be marching. a lot. and btw we don't sit down during games either! ;)

i really think you'll miss out on a lot when you commute... the life on the hill is awesome and you'll get involved with friends, do cool events and such... also i find it hard to make friends in class anyway, maybe its because im taking 300 people classes...
