I know for a fact that they do not look at students from a single school as a whole. It isn't like "we'll accept two students this year from X high school". They really do look at students individually. So there maybe something about your high school. But more likely, none of the students fit CMC.

I am a white female with a little different background from most folks..my father is an American teacher and my mother is an English housewife (I have dual citizenship). I was born in Bermuda and have lived in Germany and England as well, but never in the states. I currently attend a small (86 students) U.S. Department of Defense high school in North Yorkshire, England.
My stats are:
SAT - 2170 (reading-740, math-650, writing-780).
SAT subject tests - taking this Saturday, Dec. 1!
AP - U.S. History-5; English Lit.-4; currently taking AP Spanish Language, Calculus AB, and English Language.
ACT - 31 (composite score).
E.C's. - Honor Society, National Merit Commended student, Catholic Youth Organization, children's church aide, volleyball, and soccer.
The size of my school has its advantages, but extra-curriculars are rather limited. Plus nobody drives a car over here until they're 18, further limiting one's ability to get around.
I'm applying reg. decision to CMC - what do you think my chances are? My dad said if I'm accepted we'll fly out there in April and have a look at it (my dad's family lives in California, hence my interest in CA schools). Also applying to Pitzer and Occidental.
Thanks!

You have a fair shot. Your essays will be a big determination.

crouton-
i am a freshman at barnard, and i am a native californian looking to possibly transfer somewhere closer to home (hopefully cmc!) so my grades here aren't all that great, i'm gonna get an A in my physics lab class, an A in my physics class, a B or B+ in macroeconomics, and a B in english. Also a "pass" in my anthropology class. I got a 2320 on the SAT 1 and 730's on my SAT II's. i dont even know if scores count as a transfer. my high school gpa, incuding 9th grade, was about 3.9 W. without 9th grade, it was 4.2 W. My ec's aren't ALL that impressive. here, i am a member of the clay collective. back in high school, i did work at an AIDS clinic and also did the AIDS walk every year. i also did service for tree people. i was on varsity tennis for 4 years and earned a spot on the all-league team. i was on student council, but they didnt have specific positions at my school. i also worked at a grocery store. i didnt apply to CMC from high school, but was in the running for a full scholarship provided by POSSE. i got to the semi-finals of that or something. what do you think about my situation? might i be able to get in?

Can you tell me the average starting salary of students immediately coming out of CMC? I guess this would be the average salary of everyone's first job.

Also, do you know how much money CMC will provide for transportation home, such as during holidays? Will they pay for all of it, like if I had to buy a plane ticket to go from California to New Jersey.

wetardit -- Are you asking whether (and to what extent) CMC will subsidize students' holiday flights home? At other schools, I know of certain very competitive/rare scholarships that will fund a certain number of trips home per year, but I've never heard of a school doing this indiscriminately. I can say with a fair deal of confidence that if you're a regular student at CMC, even if you receive financial aid, the school won't provide you with any money to travel home for holidays...

Have you found any schools (or do other posters know of any schools) that do this? I can't imagine, though it'd certainly help lots of people out.

Also, I don't know salary stats for CMC, but it's worth noting that the average salary of first-year grads is NOT the average salary of everyone's first job. A decent percentage of students will go on to grad or professional school before entering the workforce.

So here's a little about me:

I go to a small private school in New Orleans with a graduating class of 40.
I am ranked either 4 or 5.

I have a friend who got a DUI off campus. How will that be handled by the CMC campus and what are the sanctions likely to be from CMC?

Hi, how many people (just approximately) are on your waitlist and what are the chances of getting off of it?
