Current Freshman - Accepted at Tulane - Greek Life Question

Hello! I am a current college freshman who has been accepted to Tulane for the fall of 2018. I got into Tulane as a senior in high school but I just couldn’t get myself to leave my home state of California. Now that I’ve gotten in again, I am seriously considering Tulane. One of my greatest concerns is Greek Life. I am currently in a sorority at my school, Tulane doesn’t have that sorority (Kappa Delta). I like feeling apart of a community and I know as a transfer student, a sorority would give me a place to meet a lot of friends.

Will not being able to be in a sorority hinder my social life/ability to make friends as quickly/easily. Obviously I know in time it will be fine, but I’m just wondering how big greek life is at Tulane.

Any input would be appreciated!

It won’t. Honestly, Greek life is visible in some respects but it is in no way a requirement to access the social scene on campus. No one walks around introducing themselves as a member of a sorority or fraternity. It’s fun but not necessary.

If you are willing to change sororities, and there are many great sorority chapters at Tulane. You can always rush again as Tulane has spring sorority rush. I believe it’s about a week before school starts up for the spring semester. Also, though Greek life is a great way to meet people, you will definitely be able to fit into the social scene at Tulane without going Greek.
