I remember move in day like it was yesterday. I’m jealous of your new journey. BC is a special place and, IMO, the education there was better than that my son received from a highly publicized ancient athletic league in the NE.
'Grats to your D.

Dear veryproudfather : Excellent news that the move-in experience was smooth. Many upper classmen actively join Welcome Wagon in order to move back to campus early in order to be with friends. As bluebayou points out, Boston College is indeed a very special place and you can expect that a year from now, your daughter might just want to “pass it on” to the next freshman class by being a Welcome Wagon member. (The t-shirts are a badge of honor at the start of the semester.)
I know that freshman live in their own little campus that is not super close to where the rest of campus is. They take a shuttle/bus back and forth between campus and their dorms. Is that a big inconvenience? Or does the shuttle run regularly enough that it’s easy to get between the dorms and campus?
@lander33256 That would be for freshmen placed on the Newton campus (~40% of the freshman class). If they are placed on upper it is a short walk to classes.

Do a search in past CC Boston College posts for the Newton Campus. There are lots of good discussions about living there, both from students sharing their experiences as well as from parents.
Aside from the shuttle bus, which does grow old as the year progresses, there are many intangible benefits to living on the Newton campus. Some don’t like it. Our son and the large circle of friends he made, had a great time there.

What does it mean to say you are conservative? The more details you can give to describe your thinking, the more others will be able to help answer your question.
