Current or Recent Pre Med Student or Parent--Please help

I have followed for a long time trying to learn.

Our son is deciding between several schools but has a strong interest in Wake Forest. We are somewhat concerned about the comments we have read on this board about Wake’s science and Pre Med program. We know that science at any school is a tougher road but there seem to be some unflattering postings about the Pre Med program in particular and we were hoping to get some opinions from recent parents or students.

Wake has freshman take Organic the second semester of the first year which seems odd. In addition. some of the freshman professors seem to get very low ratings from current Wake students on Rate My Professors and Wake Ratings.

Any help, guidance or perspective would be appreciated.

Wake has a rigorous program. I think some students, who think they are pre-med material, come in and get gobsmacked by the realities of what it means to actually have to study and work hard in college.

Only you can answer the questions: Is your student smart and hard working? Is he/she self motivated? Does he/she have good study skills? If so, your student will flourish at Wake.
