Thanks for the quick response. Another random question:

Do most people take notes in notebooks or do they type them during class? It seems like it would be easier to just type them as you go (unless its a class with lots of equations or problem sets), but then maybe people don't want to drag their laptops around with them. Would I stand out if I brought a computer to class?

Oops, I screwed up. Roble quads are three-room, not two-room. One study room and two bedrooms. Also, Branner triples are two-room.

No, in most cases, it would not stand out if you brought a computer to class. A lot of kids in my IHUM lecture use computers to take notes. I see it less in physics and math lectures. In fact, I think this quarter no one uses a laptop in either of those. I don't know why IHUM has more students using computers...

sly si: someone we both know tried to take notes in math class in latex -- kinda didn't work so well after three days

as for classes: someone i know took math 51h (psycho), chem 31x (sorta hard), physics 61 (hard) and ihum their first quarter and did very well. it really depends on you...

just as a paranoid admit - could someone in a premed major post the classes they took for their frosh year?
does stanford look down on ppl who take some of the core during the summer term? 'caUse i know some of the other elites do...
also, if anyone at stanford could briefly list your schedule on a typical saturday night (nude fountain hopping, bacchanalian orgies, the like), we'd really appreciate it!
thanx ppl

viz the saturday night:
i would post mine save for two issues:
the first is that my saturday night's vary wildly. there are some I don't remember, and there are others that were staid and prosa

aznchica, you can either be really really smart or REALLY REALLY good looking
for every iq point that you are below 100, you'd better look 10 times better than the average joe (or the average joann)

for current students:
could someone please list which of the dorms have personal bathrooms, and which ones have communal ones with 8 showers at the end of the hallway? or are there even undergrad dorms with private showers?

also, is it true that all-frosh dorms are more party dorms, compared to the 4-year ones?

i don't think any dorms for freshman have personal showers. usually its one room that has it, and its for your RA (residential assistant). all dorms w/ frosh in them have communal showers.

i would say that frosh dorms are more party dorms than 4 class dorms, for obvious reasons...except for FroSoCo (freshman sophomore college), which is pretty much dead, or so i've heard. been there once and it was pretty boring, and i know a girl that switched dorms b/c it sucked so badly. but yeah, frosh dorms are livelier.

If they completely don't have bathtubs, I'd like to suggest something for a splurge sometime. Watercourse Way is in downtown Palo Alto, and reasonably accessible from Stanford. (It's a few blocks from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station.) It's a very plushy hottub and massage and spa place. www.watercourseway.com . It's not cheap, but it's a great treat, and very Californian.

So....my birthday's tuesday and I decided to ask my parents for a bike for Stanford. I figured I'd want a really lightweight fast one, but then i realized I'd probably want to go on trails if there are any and maybe I should get one slightly heavier/with better tires. What's the mountain biking scene like around Stanford? Are there any outdoorsy trails or anything?
