Oak Hall as a residence or as a dining center?

It’s connected to Elm, and I’ve known a few people who lived there. It’s all girls and personally, I loved being in a co-ed building (Maple). Three of my closest friends lived in Oak-Elm freshman year, and they seemed to enjoy it. I was there a few times and it was pretty nice. Rooms are pretty good sized. I don’t think they are air-conditioned, but most of the dorms aren’t and a fan will do. Oak and Elm are essentially the same, and I don’t know what distinguishes one from the other.

The O-E dining center was really clean and organized, and had good food. But I think it’s closing for the upcoming year.

I just wanted to know that the building isn’t super dirty or falling apart something.
I toured friley at orientation and hallways/carpet just seemed really dark/dirty.

Oh no, O-E is nothing like that. Not given a recent total makeover/renovation like Maple or the new buildings (Martin and Eaton), but definitely among the nicer dorms. I think a big part of that is the fact that it is girls-only, and just tends to stay cleaner.

Did not rent a microfridge, my roommate brought a small mini-fridge and I brought a small microwave. Bought my own mini-fridge when I moved into an apartment because 4 college kids in one fridge gets pretty cramped.

I don’t know anything about why/how they come up with the res hall fees. I think there is a small kitchen on each floor of Willow, but don’t quote me on it! I never lived there, but most of my friends did. I seem to remember there being some sort of can collection room (?) where people could leave cans/bottles to be recycled, but I don’t remember if there was a stove/oven or sink in there as well.

go to the ISU Bookstore website (isubookstore.com)and click Order Textbooks. Agree to the statement that pops up, then select your courses. The list of books you need will appear, and the ISBN should be listed.

Hi cards4life…
You are a Kines major…do you have any input on the Athletic Training major? I have already been accepted to ISU.

How many apply and are accepted to the AT program in their soph year?
Any thoughts about the program? Is there a lot of hands on with the athletes?

I have already been accepted into a few schools but right now my top choices are: Iowa State, Loras College, Illinois State & Grand Valley in Michigan.

Iowas State and Loras are my top two. I need to come out and visit Iowa State after winter break.

thanks so much for your input here…it really helps!

I was reading many of the replies and I noticed you said your brother was studying to be an engineer there. I’m still trying to decide what school to go to ISU, Lehigh, or RIT, and I wanted to know how good was the engineering there. Well the chemical engineering really. Like tell me all you can about it pleaseeeeeee. It’d really help me decide where I go. ISU paid my whole tuition straight up and a bit more. All I’d need is an 8 K loan (which the school offers as well) for books and room&board.

SO yea engineering and chem engineering, what do you know about it??

Oh and I’m honestly planning to go to med school after. Chemical eng. would be my major because it seems really interesting, but I’d need heavy-duty sciences classes as well (not a pre-med program though). I know ISU is known for engineering, but how is it with science? like biochem, biotech, neurobio, org chem, etc.

I know you’re probably really busy, but just a few minutes from your time could save me a couple of years of living with making the wrong choice. Any kind of comment would suffice.
