Current Students: What Distinguishes Rice?

Just wondering, what distinguishes Rice from its peer colleges? What makes Rice a unique experience?

Any comments are appreciated!

A few things come to mind, but first and foremost is the residential college system. Basically, your second family. Life here is so much else besides traditional school work. I’m happy to write more about it, but I don’t know how much you already know and could go on forever. Another distinguishing feature is the lack of any required courses. Instead, the distribution credit system allows you to take classes you are interested in among a wide range of disciplines to satisfy graduation requirements. Rice students in general are just awesome people and are so much fun to be around.

My posts in this topic might help: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/1227962-things-i-heard-about-rice.html

Other things I can think of are major traditions such as jacks, Willy Week, etc and O-Week for sure. There are many, many things that make Rice distinct.
