hey guys,
i was wondering what fletcher classes you all have taken and what your expereiences have been. i'm contemplating taking one next semester. it'd be great if you could share your experiences.
thanks.

I'm currently sitting in International Environmental Policy, with Professor Moomaw, and I love it. He's so affable, and his background is physical chemistry, so he doesn't subscribe to the whole "dry academic reading" as you might think. He's worked for the Senate, too, and he's a great lecturer and gives off the aura of being a great guy. We've had to do one problem set (which I actually ENJOYED, believe it or not, b/c we were supposed to calculate interesting things like how much the world population has grown in our own lifetime, etc), there's one short policy paper, and a final. Guest lecturers have been interesting, and the Fletcher students are friendly and helpful to me, even though I'm an undergrad. I'm glad I decided to take this class :)

so glad you replied. i want to take clean energy technologies and policy issues with him next semester. how did you approach moomaw and was he in any way concerned about you being an undergrad and all that?

Sidenote: Prof. Moomaw is one of the heads of the UN climate change body that shared the Nobel Peace Prize this year with Al Gore. :)

lol, today someone asked him if he could call himself a Nobel laureate, and he said "If anything, a laure-ette." He talked about the process that goes into creating IPCC reports, it was so fascinating!

blurinka: is fletcher graded on a different scale. i know how for grad schools in general, getting a B is like getting a C during undergrad. how does the scale change?
also, what do you think of moomaw as a grader? do you know yet?
