Hey, I have another question if it’s not a problem. I applied for international politics which I really want to do. I also wanted to double major in journalism. Is there a certain time I would have to decide on doing this? Would I have to wait a certain amount of time?

Hey I’m with “iamzewalrus” I got into Smeal early December and I want to know if it matters what laptop you have?

“entrance to major” is something that happens at the end of your sophomore year, so until then you don’t really have a major, officially. For example, education and engineering majors (new students who intend to major in those areas) will be taking gen eds and a few beginning pre req courses as freshman/sophomores so they can fit everything in (they have lots of major requirements), but you could do horribly and not make the gpa for entrance to major and have to switch. DUS students take all the same courses other people do, you just have better advising and some special stuff going on to help you decide what to major in. There’s no reason to switch out of DUS early if you’ve already been admitted to PSU. Most freshmen are taking speech, writing, and math gen eds and their freshman seminar. You needn’t hurry to specialize.

All these questions can be answered with something called The Undergraduate Advising Handbook , which is online at the psu registrar’s office. Bookmark it! Also, if you look through the colleges/majors, almost all of them have a list of the courses required and (even better) a suggested plan for completing all of them.
