I think that is enough. Only email the rep if you have a legitimate question – they can smell a fake one a mile away. Don’t send your app in at the last minute for them.

Thanks for all your help. Any other comments would be nice too

Per your earlier question: “Show them some love” means: Washington University likes to see demonstrated interest from their applicants, because they are often used as a safety for very strong students who may end up attending an Ivy. They are known for being sensitive about their yield- in other words, they like to see some indication that the person applying is serious about attending. I see you have visited, so that is probably enough of an indicator.

If WASHU is asking me to do their summer camps by email, should I email them back to tell them that I would if I could but my summer is booked? Should I do this with other colleges too to show demonstrated interest?

The summer camps are a money-making proposition for the university; they have nothing to do with the admissions office. If your summer is booked up, enjoy it and don’t worry about trying to squeeze something in that in all likelihood will do nothing to further your chances of admission. And don’t send e-mails about “I’d love to go to a summer camp at your school but I can’t because I’m way too busy”; as @intparent suggests, that sort of thing reeks of insincerity.

If you’re interested in moving across the country, the UC system has some really good schools. For your scores UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara would be really good bets and you definitely have a shot at UC Los Angeles and UC Berkeley which has a fantastic Econ program and business school in Haas. The UC schools also practice holistic application review so they won’t look to closely at a potentially low GPA. Also, another good option would be a school from my home state, UVA, which matches up with your profile pretty well and has a great business school too. Only thing with UVA is it is known to be (in Northern Virginia at least) a pretty heavy party school and the kids can be kind of elitist and preppy. Not a problem for some people, it was the reason I chose not to apply however. Good Luck!

^ Not just in NOVA does UVA have that reputation. It’s a very good school, but it does have that rep.
