Anyone know around how many points I need for a 3?

Bump this!

^Bump. Does anyone know? I need the curve for Comparative Government & Politics as well..

AP US Government, it's about a 50 more or less. So basically, you can pass it on the multiple choice alone.

50 .. out of how many points? Percentage wise where would this lie?

lol, the max you can get is 120 points for AP Government

60 multiple choice questions worth 60 points. And 4 multiple choice questions worth 15 points each.

so if you get 50/60 or 83.3% on the multiple choice, then you basically passed the test.

(you need an 80 or more to get a 5)

I thought it was closer to 90 points for a 5? I hope you're right and it is 80, that would help alot.

By the AP assessment rubric my son brought home, one needs an 86/120 for a 5. Yes, you can get a 3 just by nailing the MC. Wouldn't recommend that strategy!

Thanks CountingDown!

Should have had the sheet in front of me so I could just list all the breakpoints!

0-26 -- 1
27-48 -- 2
49-69 -- 3
70-85 -- 4
86-120 -- 5

The sheet is cited as 1999, so this may vary a little -- but at least it gives you an idea.

Good luck to all!

if that's how it was in 1999, in which direction do you suppose the grading scale has changed since?

do you think it's stricter or more forgiving?

Thanks guys! Now a bit off topic from my original post, anyone have a sure answer on how the essays are supposed to be written? Can they all just be bullet points or what?

Yes, they can be bullet points as long as you answer all the questions in their entirety..

w0ot! bullet pts are awesome

I would also like to know the answer to this question.
More specifically, does anyone know the curves from the past 2 or 3 years?

any idea, guys? have grades gotten worse or better for AP US Gov since '99?

since '02 at least, a little better. mostly the same, save a 2%ish gain.

(Woops, posted on the wrong thread; my bad)

Well with the new grading (no deductions for incorrect answers) I would think its a little harsher
