I think those kids were guessing how many they got wrong on math. The date for the thread where they stated 58 raw math=740 was Nov. 30, but college board sends out scores by mail(only way to know raw score) on Dec. 1.

There might still be hope guys. Hear my sanguine view. Let me tell you why and lets hope my argument is correct. I have read the December 2003 archives as well. Even though, I have no idea what those ppl were discussing about when it comes to verbal, they had the same MATH as we did. Then, in addition to that, I read the scores. It seem so different from what i am hearing in the November 2002 adminstration: I heard 790, 780, 760, 750, 740, 730, 720, 710, and 700 from those test takers, and 800 obviously.. lol. Im not lying but I am a bit skeptical to believe this to be true. That math curve is hot.

but most people in december had a different math, i remember discussing questions with my friend who couldnt recognize them at all. look at the december math questions.

i've been doing some detective work as well, and i looked up the december 2002 archive to see the results of the november SAT. And yeah, 2 wrong brings you down to a 740.

tongos, do you mean that there were two adminstrations on the same Dec 6 test date or one of two was technically the "Dec 20" SAt because of the storm last yr.

all im saying is that there were two different math tests on december 2003. If people performed at the same ability as november 2002, (which is likely) then our curve and the predictions the poster gave will be right. I can't help being a pessimist about this though.

iamhung. remember the infamous problems like the pencils, train, Area of circle bigger or the square, getting 5/64 for the last grid-in. For verbal, did you get a passage on women being a myth, interview on slaves, Artifiical Intelligence, and the strive for mediocrity instead of excellence.

Regarding the math curve, go to the November 2002 archives (to find the archives look at the bottom of this pages and you will see College Discussion Archive) and then use the Find(on this page) command in Edit to locate the thread with the name - November SAT math. It is scary. You miss one and you are down to a 780.

Is the curve based on how difficult CB finds the test to be, or how kids score? Like, if this was the exact same test as Nov. 2002, will they use the exact same curve? Or will they wait and see what the raw scores were and then make a new curve??

Yup, I got those exact problems. The math seemed different for some reason. I made the same dumb mistake at got the 5/64 problem wrong again lol.

xgreenmachinex, i almost positive that they will use the same curve that they did in nov. 2002. yeah, it really does stink, im just hoping i got an 800 on the math. If you missed two fill in the blanks, your probably looking at a 750 or 760. but if you missed 2 mcs, thats where it bites (740 lol)
