i'm hoping for a good math curve.... this test's math stuff was ridiculous

^ That's more accurate. And for math, -1 is anywhere from 770 to 790.

This was my first SAT so I can't compare, but I thought the math was really easy.

I also thought that section 10 was harder than the main writing section, and I didn't think CR was that bad except I know I got at least 1 sentence completion wrong, there were some tough words.

Curves:
M
-1 790
-2 760
-3 740

CR
-3 800
-4 790
-5 770

W
-2 80
-3 78
-4 76

haha

I wish, its more like -2 is 800

There is no set table of scaled scores. A curve is determined after all scores have been counted in order to get an even range of scores

From what I heard from my friends, the writing was even easier than the January one. If considering only the MC index, the curve would look like

-1 76
-2 72

The January one went,

-1 76
-2 73

I hope the curve is generous for all through, especially math which I really messed up on (just mainly the open ended section...think I got 3 wrong on that)

I'm hoping for a -2 780 in math but probably not more like a 760 or even 740 because it was fairly easy.
CR possibly a -4 for a 760 because of the Indian passage.
Writing wasn't too difficult maybe a -3 750

-2 = 780 would be awesome for me. I'm confident I got an 800 W and the outlook for an 800 CR is pretty good, so a nice math curve would be awesome for my score.

Is it crazy to hope for -3 750 on math?
I actually thought CR was fairly easy...

Is a -2 even possible on the CR section? Unless you leave some blank, don't you automatically get -3 if you answer 2 incorrectlly, or do they not round .5? Like, do they round the number they are subtracting from your score first, or do they subtract it and then round, because if they round first, they would round to a -3, but if they subtract first then they would round your score up to just -2 after subtracting the .5. Anyone know?

I was under the impression that the curve for the SAT is not all that great. I hear the subject tests can vary, but I didn't think that was true for the SAT. I took it yesterday as well and felt very good about it. I thought the math and writing went very well. The critical reading went well too, but I thought it was a little harder than the other sections. The vocabulary was not too bad.

@ThePerson1

A -2.5 rounds to a -2 but if you were to get a -3.75 that would round to a -4, you can find this somewhere on the CB website.

And the SAT curve usually is not that great, but it varies by test and some people considered the test more challenging than normal so we can hope for a good curve.

I've heard the March SAT in general has always been harder, but I took it to be just a rumor.

No the SAT is most certainly not an IQ test. It used to be thought of as that many years ago, but now even the Collegeboard has flat out said that it isn't. There are plenty of people with high IQ's that don't do well on the SAT. It's like ACT vs SAT, it's all a matter of what suits you.

How College Board equates standard scores on different versions of the SAT:

http://www.collegeboard.com/research/pdf/rn14_11427.pdf

Is there ANY example of a previous version where more than two wrong on a section still got an 800? Unless there is such an example, I'd expect the March versions not to allow more than two wrong items per section for a section score of 800.

Taking the SAT is about knowing how to take the test. It's not about intelligence at all.

Historically, what is the highest that three wrong (-3.75) has scored? I'm just hoping for like 770-780

I believe there have been -3 CR curves on occasion before.

And Poeme, the SAT definitely requires both intelligence and familiarity. There's a reason you don't see everyone scoring 2300 after learning a few tricks.

Fignewton's curve chart for those with questions on average curves:

i'm definitely hoping for more lenient writing and reading curves...!
