Cushing Academy for non athletes?

My daughter really loved her revisit day - from the parent pov however, we were/are concerned that despite the incredible arts programs/offerings as well as solid academics and good college placement, a non-athlete might find herself at a social disadvantage...comments?

I think your D will be fine. My son went to school with some kids who transferred into CA. They are not sporty and are very happy there.

I don’t know this school well to comment, but seriously, are you sure the name is not “Cashing Academy”?

hootoo - even by fif’s standards what a nonsensical response.

fif thinks Cushing is trying to do the best it can with limited resources and reputation. He is on record as thinking that their no-book library is a gimmick. Frankly, overly large international population.

On the other hand, it has served some of fif’s friends children very well. Met some of their parents/students at a recent NE Hockey playoff game – and was impressed by both.

Is it a jock school? Not really; traditionally they have good to very good boy’s teams in football, basketball and especially hockey. Girl’s hockey is quite good. Otherwise, overall average. fif would imagine that being a jock means a much as it would at any school which isn’t much.

Kind of surprised that you are impressed by their matriculation, which honestly isn’t very impressive.

Quick quiz: who is Cushing’s most famous alumni?

Betty Davis

C’mon, you didn’t know that, you must have googled it.

Actually learned it last yr. from a current student of CA.

What is the ‘f’ in fif? F as in foul?
Nonsensical? yes, but you have to give me credit for trying as I work so hard to lose my “Junior” in front of the word “Member”.

Don’t you need 200 posts to be a regular member without the “junior” in front of it?

That makes sense. Thank you overandover:)
