I got into Cushing, anyone knows this school? If I compare it with lake forest in Chicago, which one is better?

Use the “advanced search” tool to do searches in the prep school forum for both Cushing and Lake Forest . . . and see what you come up with. You may not find a lot, but there should be at least a few posts about each of them.

Another thing you can do is contact the admissions offices at both schools and ask them to put you in contact with some current students so you can find out more about the school. They should be happy to accommodate you.

Unfortunately, all I know is that Cushing has a pretty campus and a great ice hockey rink. (I used to skate there.) That’s absolutely no help to you at all! :D

so you’ve been there before, hows the campus? is it small?

Actually, I think it’s fairly large . . . but I never saw much more of it than the ice rink. Understand my bias, though . . . it’s close to where I live, and I think I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, so I think Cushing is located in a pretty spectacular place also. It’s not in New Hampshire, sadly . . . but it’s just about as close to it as you can get. The region is rural, wooded, and not far from various state forests, wildlife preserves, and state parks, including Mount Monadnock, which is gorgeous for hiking.

Lake Forest, in contrast, is in a suburb outside of Chicago, as I understand it - so a completely different setting. Whether you’d prefer one or the other is up to you. But there are NO cities anywhere near Cushing . . . it’s pretty isolated. (Small towns, yes. Cities, no.)

Can’t tell you much more than that, though . . . except for one thing: the school recently replaced much of its library with electronic books. Quote controversial . . . at least for us older folks who like reading actual books. But it’s quite possible that it significantly reduces expenses for both the school and students. And you might find it quite handy to use electronic books instead of paper ones!

Cushing Academy in Ashburnham is 162 acres and Lake Forest Academy is 150 acres. I don’t know anyone who HASN’T gotten in to Cushing - so either I know really smart and great kids, or the let in a wide range of students. What I don’t like about Cushing is the campus. It is set on a hill so everything is at a slant. It’s also within walking distance to downtown Ashburnham which consists of a pizza place, a Cumberland farms, a bank, and an insurance company, so once you leave campus there’s not much to do (no movies, no train or bus station to catch a ride into Boston). You will learn to go mountain hiking - a trip up Mt. Monadnock will be in your future! (EVERY prep school in the area, Lawrence Academy, Cushing, Dublin, Winchendon climbs Monadnock). So, do you want to be at a mid-sized boarding school in New England or not?

I would like to stay in new England

What, do you have an inner ear issue that causes you to lose your balance easily?

LOL, Neato you crack me up:)
