so im at the library right now trying to finish my essays and i randomly came across this book while i was walking. its called "how opal mehta got kissed, got wild, and got a life." its about an indian girl whose whole life was revolved around getting into an ivy league school and was valedictorian, president of 829304 clubs, had perfect scores/gpa blah blah blah, just like a lot of people on this forum. but then she realizes that she has no life outside of school because shes been concentrating so much on the perfect college application (not saying you guys have no life!) and her interviewer tells her that she has to show that she is more than just a 4.0, which is when she starts dating/partying/trying to live a more exciting life. just thought id share cuz it looks like an interesting read :)

Which is why I do not try hard on the outside, but retain my mental prowess within my own mind.

Didn't the author of this turn out to have plagiarized huge amounts of it. Or am I confusing her with some one else?

Just checked, in fact, she was an early admit to Harvard and indeed is alleged to have lifted much of her material from the works of others...

which authors? cecily von ziegesar? why dont people come up with their own work.. do they honestly not have ideas of their own?

It was a very good book. I had never heard about her plagirazing it before, though.

Yeah, I heard about the plagirazing too.

Apparently she copied alot of the parts from the author of Sloppy Firsts or something?

It still sounds like an interesting book though!

The investigator in me had to check this out and the author seemed to have plagiarized from numerous other novels...Kaavya Viswanathan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yeah, those passages were accidentally written for sure.

I thought all copies of that book were withdrawn? The book was definitely plagiarized.
