Does anyone have any information about CW Post?

I actually went to the school for a year. What will you like to know?

I’d like to know about their BFA acting and musical theater program? School in general?

Well the BFA Acting has been in CW Post for a while and the Musical Theater program is very new. It just started last year. When you attend as a freshman, everyone is taking the same classes which are Technical Theater, Basic Acting for a year and Intro to Drama(Fall) and Professional Suzuki (spring) for a semester. It does not matter if you are a BA in Theater, BFA in Acting or Musical Theater. Everyone would take about the same classes for the first year and when you get into Junior Year, you should know of what major you would want to be in and there might be a class or two that would not take with everyone.

If you are interested in Musical Theater, the only class you will not take with everyone is a voice class.

The school is small and walkable distance. There is one side of campus where there are nine dorm halls and dining hall and there is chipmunk trial ( have not seen a chipmunk since i was there) that connects to the other side of campus where there is the student center where there are computers, grocery store (very small) , java juice , subway, japanese and american food. There is lots of tables to sit down. There are always events going on in the student center and also if you are interested in clubs that is where mostly likely the meetings are.

There is also the library, a hall where most of your academic classes will be (english, science and math). also across from that building will be the theater, dance and film building. The building has one theater room where most of your classes will be held and a dance studio where you take your dance classes (where you are acting or musical theater) and two classrooms where the drama classes are.

To be honest, the school is fine. Last time I check the tuition is $35,000 counting room and board and unless you live in long island and queens where you can drive forward and back to school you are looking at a hefty price tag. It is not as bad as NYU which is $60,000 scam even though no one would see and admit it. The money you are paying is the name not mostly for the studio of where you are training. But Post has very limited financial aid. I remember my spring semester where 1/3 of the student population had to leave because their financial aid fell threw. If you have at least a 3.5 and 1500 SAT score and get accepted into the theater program, you should be fine.

Also, do not be gullible to believe that getting a theater degree is going to help you get jobs unless you have another reason to be in college. I suggest watching “College is a scam” on youtube and see if you really want to put yourself in debt for a very expensive piece of paper. You could just take acting, singing and dance class, build you repertoire and resume credits and audition for roles and you would be in the same position as if you graduated with a degree. And as you might have heard, there are a lot of actors out there degree or no degree auditioning for that same role.

Hope I help.
