CWRU Homeschool Interview

Hello,

On Case Western Reserve University’s website, they state that they highly recommend homeschoolers to interview. I think, overall, I have a strong application for their school, and my SAT is in their top 25%. Do I still have a good chance, if at all, of being admitted if I apply without an interview? (I’m homeschooled, obviously.)

Thanks!

Interview. They’ll most likely want to know about your homeschool experience, classes, books, etc.

I agree. “Highly recommended” I think you should interview. They also have a page on their website that describes the interview process, which was very helpful for my daughter when she interviewed.

My homeschooled kid was interviewed pretty extensively when she visited Case. She thinks it went fine, but they grilled her on all aspects of her homeschool experience then went through a bunch of stuff on her resume after that.

I’ve met a lot of teens who are very defensive about their schooling or even negative (saying without prompting that they didn’t do much–even though when you dig into it they did a lot!). If that’s you, practice selling yourself a little before you interview.

Why not interview? I think you can do an alumni interview that is near your house. When you sign up, let them know that you are homeschool so they can prioritize your interview.

Okay, thanks guys. I will setup an interview then.
