Does anyone have any knowledge of highly ranked or highly regarded undergraduate business schools (marketing/finance major concentration most likely) that also have a D2 or D3 baseball programs for a prospective student/athlete (gpa 3.8/28-29 ACT; top 20% class rank) in the Midwest or nationwide you would recommend?

NYU and Babson have baseball teams, but I’m not sure they recruit for baseball.

Also, the Ivies and Georgetown are technically DivI, but you likely do not have to beat out MLB-potential talent for a spot on their baseball team.

To an extent, that’s true for BigTen baseball as well, and a player in that league could attend Ross, Kelley or get a concentration from Kellogg.

Why are you only considering D2/D3? I am guessing you are saying you don’t believe you are a D1 prospect. It is important to know that there are a lot of high quality players in all divisions and that the top D3 teams are on par with even mid level D1 teams. The 2014 MLB draft had 14 players drafted from D3 schools.

With all that said, there are a lot of baseball programs out there. The sooner you start talking to college coaches the sooner you’ll be able to gage what type of prospect they think you are.

It is possible that Wisconsin-Whitewater (D3) would not be interested in you but a school like Milwaukee or St. Bonaventure–both D1 schools–would see you as a prospect, just like a school like Maranatha Baptist (D3). There are also a good number of NAIA programs in the Midwest too and they are all of varying talent levels.

It is really best to find the schools that interests you first. One helpful task can be doing two searches in parallel. Do research on schools you would like to attend if you were not going to play baseball and do a search of schools that you would be able to be a part of the team. Then when you have your two lists compare them and see if there are any similarities. There are a lot of options out there for business out there.

Best of luck.

I suggest you take your questions to the athletic forum.

Also, what year is the player? What position? Is he being recruited? What is his present level of play ( e.g., LHP sitting 90)? What are his projections ( e.g., he’s a skinny 5’ 10" but has genes which indicate 6’ 3" once he’s mature)?

Thank you.

I go to Babson College and I’m pretty sure they recruit for Baseball. The school is very strong and definitely worth checking out.

Thank you all
