DA Forensic Accounting Co-Op

My school has an co-op with the nearby DA where you work on white collar and corporate crime-

I was just curious if any other schools have a similiar program?

What exactly does forensic accounting entail? It seems interesting and in any case it would be a great stepping stone for law school.

bump bump......

Forensic accounting involves analyzing a business (through bank statements, tax returns, financial statements, etc.) and checking to see if a crime has been committed (fraud, money laundering, etc.).

It's a somewhat "new" field, so not many schools have a lot on it--it depends a lot on where you go. If you go to a school that has an actual accounting major, then they might have a classes in the field. Largers schools tend not to have an accounting major, but rather a business major where you can concentrate in accounting. Since, in your case, this directly involves your local DA, it's probably unique to your area and I doubt there are many other places that do it (which is great for you...makes you unique).

The government is on a bit of a hiring spree with forensic accounting...I think it'll be relatively easy to get a job in it (to my understanding, though mind you I have not done a lot of research, so if anyone has please chime in), but I believe the pay is still a bit lower than public accounting at a private firm.

Like trying to stop Abignail in the movie Catch Me If You Can. That's what I would think of.
