@BIGeast – there’s a reason, I originally wanted to become a Psychologist for another reason – namely I wanted to gain the skills to help counsel the people I love and felt I’d be more effective at it if I had some sort of professional training. But the more I read about LGBT issues the more outraged I became about what certain groups were doing to us. What I’m aiming for requires that I be an “Expert” on the issue. Because I’m going to use my degree to have reparative therapy/ex-gay therapy outlawed federally. The APA already forbids it, but it still happens. Little crazies set up camps (what, you thought that South Park episode was entirely satirical?) to “cure” homosexuality. I can’t stress enough how damaging these camps are to the psyche… and some (read: most) of the people in those camps are underaged kids whose parents forced them to go there. Because “they” won’t have a “gay kid” living in their house or w/e. What these camps do amounts to child abuse. Sexuality can’t be “changed” because it’s not a choice, all it’s doing is causing these kids to become repressed, depressed, and increase the odds they might commit suicide. These are facts.

and jym – thank you lol, I’ve liked the Neuropsych field since I took Physio.

^No, that was done entirely by accident, but I seem to have the odd ability to do things like that… I MEAN… I’m… Psychic… yes, Psychic…

It’s a really fascinating field, if I mention it I always find myself mentioning to people about the Nucleus Accumbens and it’s role in substance addiction and the Substantia Nigra’s role in dopamine-related disorders

Honestly, I’m a business major so I naturally want to advise you to go that route and apply it to starting/running a foundation to raise awareness about child abuse. But if that’s not your thing, I would hear your Dad out. Do you really want to work your butt off for a degree that doesn’t offer anything to you financially? Research similar fields that are in-demand, maybe you can find a happy medium.

I don’t want to double major because I don’t think I could handle it and I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on myself.
I do want to minor in psychology though.
