Hi
Could anyone give an estimate to how long is the typical dance audition? (as for as counts) I just wanted to get an idea of the length of the dance! :)

Impossible to answer without knowing what schools you are auditioning for. They vary a great deal – most do several combinations in different styles, not just one.

Oh Sorry! Well, any input as for the dance auditions of CCM, BOCO, Baldwin-Wallace, and Hartt!

When I auditioned for the Hartt school at the Chicago Unifieds last Feb. they gave us a short combination. I would say that it was roughly nothing longer than 64 counts. It was really fast, so be prepared to really move.

Hope this is of some help!

^^^what kyler said on hartt. but some go for hours. Ball State had a 2 hour dance call that was VERY thorough.

And from what I understand, some schools do it differently depending on if you’re auditioning on campus vs at Unifieds. Best to check with each school directly.

BoCo was one of the longer dance calls at LA unifieds, at least an hour maybe more. But the very tired students came out saying it was the most fun, too.

Boco is usually 2 full hours from start to finish (Warm up to end). I would allow an extra half hour to cool down, change and be ready if you have your singing/acting audition afterwards. You also do not want to be late for the dance auditions as it puts you in a big disadvantage. Especially for Boco you need to properly warm up.

ok! Thanks everybody for the input! This is all so exciting! :)
