@linda743 This is from posts on USC thread -
You can project your likely delivery window via the following link… https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/ Simply use 90007 as the originating zip code. Be forewarned however that USPS is far from 100% reliable, and they do too often miss those delivery windows. The portal updates on the 23rd will be the definitive answer.
@MomL98 Thank you! That’s helpful, we had to send a video audition because we weren’t able to attend an on-campus audition. Hopefully we hear soon!
Got the news from USC. My DD is waitlisted. Not devastated, but disappointed. It’s her first choice. Has anyone here heard of people getting off the waitlist in previous years?
@SCMHAALUM did your DS get in to USC?
@linda743 ds is also WL, but he’s happy. Thought it was an outright rejection at first, so WL feels like an accomplishment.
@Undercovermom1 He came home for springbreak last night and told me he didn’t get portal updates and we didn’t get mail, so he just emailed the admissions director at USC. How about yours?
@Undercovermom1 Never mind. Didn’t read your response before sending my question about your DS.
@linda743 Last year my son was on wait list till June. Never got off. He has a friend who got off the wait list in April but couldn’t afford to go, so there must’ve been another kid who took the spot. I know two girls that got off the wait list 2017, and one of them was offered scholarship.
@SCMHAALUM Did he have to apply as a transfer? If so, maybe his notification date is later?
@SCMHAALUM thanks for the info. Fingers and toes crossed. Did your son reapply this year?
@Undercovermom1 @linda743 Yes he applied again this year as a transfer. Transferring students start as freshman with Kaufman for dance, but their academic credits are transferable. He is a human biology major and wants to pursue physical therapy in addition to dance. It’s a confusing application process, but less stressful for us than last year. Good luck to both your kids!!
@undercovermom1 My dd feel same way, not a complete rejection and hope remains. Still waiting for NYU but she has great options if not accepted there either. Good luck to your son. I hear there are quite a few accepted to both Juilliard and USC. @SCMHAALUM I didn’t know you could reapply. Good luck to your son too.
To anyone who got accepted into the University of Arizona Dance program, have your son/daughters received any information about dance merit scholarships?
My daughter heard back from them with a personal phone call 1.5 weeks ago but I’m sure it may be taking some time to make all the calls.
@linda743 My daughter was also waitlisted at Kaufman. It was her first choice also so we know how you feel. They said the waitlist is very short. Are you aware of any others? I know of one male from these boards and one female who is from Chicago but other than that I don’t have any idea. Sounds like there may be a bit of movement so I will keep my fingers crossed tight for both of our girls.
My DD auditioned at U of arizona twice in the fall and received rather disheartening rejection letters. She auditioned at PP in December was accepted right after break. She’s been waitlisted for Pace and waiting to hear back. Both are good programs in her mind.
I would strongly disagree that it is a plan B school as I personally know of girls that are dancing in Mean girls on Broadway, on Royal Caribbean and in Vegas the Show.
My son finally heard back from USC, a rejection. He applied for transfer on common app and maybe that caused the confusion. They asked if he was interested in another major and he wasn’t so he withdrew his application. Best of luck to everyone! I think there were about half a dozen of movement from the wait list in last year so keeping fingers crossed!
Sorry to hear that @SCMHAALUM. I hope that he embraces all of the opportunities he can at Stanford. Not too shabby!
@Undercovermom1 Thank you! I think he is finally committed to Stanford in his heart. Told me he will try to make the dance program better there
