I have a quick question...
There is a dance call here at school that is labeled as "Advanced level only."
The chances of me making it into the show aren't very high because word on the street is that they aren't going to be taking many freshman (maybe 1 or 2) this year. I would say I am an intermediate dancer but can "fake" it well in an audition.

Should I go to the call to try and get any leg up even if I won't be able to do the entire combination? I would obviously give it my all and do as much as I could...Or should I listen to the level warning and not go?

Thanks for any advice!

I would definitely go as you have nothing to lose. I maybe would advise against it if you were a beginner but you are not. If you don't get in, you don't. You have a chance. Is this for a student run dance group? The good thing is to be seen and even if you don't make it, they know you are interested and you can keep trying each semester. By showing up now, that's a good thing. Also, the thing about auditions is that they are great experiences because auditioning itself is a skill and the more you do it, the better you get at it and the more comfortable as well. Go for it! You have a chance and nothing to lose and some to gain. Break a leg!

I agree wholeheartedly. What have you got to lose? Nothing, and the experience will be worth it!

Break a leg, and have fun!

Thanks guys. I decided to sign up tonight so I am going for it! It's actually the dance call for this big musical that goes up every year here at Northwestern (Waa-Mu if anyone has heard of it). I'll go and give it my all!

I've heard of Waa-Mu. I think this is even more reason to audition. Even if you do not get in as a freshman, be SEEN. Audition as much as possible at college and it can only be beneficial to subsquent auditions down the line.

Go get 'em!
