Dance portion of MT audition at BoCo

Boco prides itself on producing triple threats not admitting triple threats. One of their most successful student’s of the last ten years had little or no dance experience when he auditioned. He worked his butt off and as a result, has been steadily working on broadway since he graduated in 2005 almost exclusively in dance roles.

Boco’s faculty is skilled enough to see the potential in students. And while producing a triple threat is desired, if you are very strong in voice and acting, any shortcoming in dance will be overlooked.

Thanks for the advice; I’m just going to give it all I’ve got and hope for the best. =] I think we’ll be at the same dance audition, CarolAnne! My audition is at 4 and the dance call is 11 for me.

Yup, my dance call is 11 as well, as my audition is at 5. Will see you there!

Thanks for the advice. I’m gonna try my best and be optimistic about it. A more realistic time for me to worry about suddenly becoming a fabuluous dancer would have been…about a year or two ago! Gotta work with I got!

Just an update, my audition is finished. I didn’t meet you taintedlove! You can PM me your first name and I may remember you (or what you were wearing). I didn’t have the guts to ask everyone there about the username haha but I just wanted to tell anyone auditioning in the future know that the dance portion is very fun and challenging. Michelle is amazing and she makes everyone feel comfortable.

My S was at the 11 dance call and 4-5pm audition. He said the same thing about the dance portion. Michelle was wonderful to work with. He did say how long and tiring it was though. He is not a true dancer, but is very strong on vocals and acting. He was very impressed with BOCO. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for everyone. I wish BOCO had rolling admissions though, so that we could hear sooner!

My audition was also Saturday, and for my first audition, I think it went pretty well. I had some trouble with the dance audition, but hopefully my acting and singing auditions made up for it. I saw you there, CarolAnne, I was in the bright pink leotard at the dance audition

Yes, yes! I remember you, tainted! Haha and man, singingfrog, your S was right–it was definitely long and tiring, but very rewarding. I’m not a dancer either, but she made me feel welcome and comfortable, which boosted my confidence and therefore my performance. But, like tainted, I had some trouble with the dance all the same, but thought it went better than I thought it would, and thought my acting and singing were much more impressive. Good luck to anyone auditioning in the future!

I was wondering if I’d see everyone on here! I was at the 11 am dance call with the 4-5 singing slot too. Um… Curly hair, black leotard, kind of short… Bright red audition dress? Rather loud.

I would like to second the difficulty with the dance audition. It wasn’t the hardest bits of dance I’ve every done but the ballet part especially moved very quickly. Although I’m sure anyone with more training would have found it much easier than I did.
