BoCo Unified Audition

Hey, does anyone know what the dance portion of the Unified Audition with be for BoCo? I know some schools have a separate dance part scheduled in another room and some schools want you to come prepared with a minute’s worth of dancing, but I can’t tell if BoCo has anything planned and I’ve searched all over.

Thanks :D

You do NOT prepare your own dance. They teach a dance that you must do.

Also, see this thread on this forum:

Also, right on BOCO's website, it says:

Applicants should be prepared to learn a combination in various musical theater styles. Expected audition dress attire is as follows:

Women: Solid-colored unitard or leotard with dance pants. Bring jazz shoes. (Bring tap shoes if you already own them.)
Men: Form-fitting, solid-colored tee shirt and jazz pants. Bring jazz shoes. (Bring tap shoes if you already own them.)

I'd read that on the site and all but I was wondering if it was different at all for Unifieds because I know other colleges are asking for a different audition. I was also wondering if some dance auditions are combined for colleges at Unifieds? Because I'm trying to schedule around different hour-long dance blocks and it seems logistically impossible to audition for even four schools this way, let alone the people who are trying to do more!!

Basically I'm one very confused individual :D It's more of a scheduling issue than anything, I'm not sure how it's supposed to work and Feb 1 is coming fast!

Thanks for the reply, though :D

NONE of the college auditions are combined. Each school holds SEPARATE auditions. Each school requires different lengths of time. Some schools have brief appointments and some require a half day to be set aside at Unifieds. When you sign up for your audition slots, you need to find out from EACH of your colleges how long to allow for the appointment/audition. This is very late to be signing up for auditions. It is very possible to audition for four schools over two days. Four in one day is usually not possible, though it depends on the schools and the times required for each. At this juncture, if your audition appointments are not yet confirmed, it may be harder to fit together the time slots ideally as it is like putting together a puzzle and at this point, many time slots may be filled and you would have to not get your first choice time and it may be harder to piece together the appointments at various schools if you have to audition at default time slots. Contact each school directly to find out how long to allow for the audition. It varies from school to school. Your applications should all have been filed by now as well.

I've had all of my applications done and sent out since the beginning of December, but it took me a long time to hear back from Montclair and University of the Arts. Believe me, I didn't procrastinate in the scheduling.

Thank you for the clarification on how everything works, though.

hey! how did it go for everyone?

does anyone know the names of the two people that auditioned everyone?

for some reason I didn't catch them.

Niel and i cant remember the other ladies name

I auditioned this past monday (2/2) at Chicago Unifieds. All of the faculty I came into contact with were SO nice. I found the dance call to be the most challenging college audition dance call that I have encountered. It was still a lot of fun though!

Does anyone know when decisions are usually mailed? Do they wait until April?

Four years ago, when my daughter got in, they mailed the acceptances April 1. This may have changed but you'd have to get feedback from more recent years.

Last year they sent emails out at 3:45 on the last Friday in March.

Then the only change is the email notification. I recall it being snail mail my D's year but the part that is the same is that all notifications are around April 1.

How many hours has the dance audition at unifieds taken in the past? I’m trying to figure out how many schools I can fit in at unifieds.

BOCO is a solid hour. I would also figure at least a 15 minute cool down. Some colleges put more emphasis on the dance audition than others. Boco for one is fun but intense. I would call each one to find out.

Last year at Chicago, BoCo dance was an hour and a half.
