Hi...I was wondering if anyone had any information on the dance program?
Can you major or minor?
What are the classes like?
Are their performance opportunities?
Do you need to audition?
Any information is helpful!

Have you checked out the School of Music, Theater and Dance? The performing arts programs overall are very well respected, rank high both nationally and internationally, and are very competitive in terms of admission, which is talent-based, by audition or in some programs, portfolio. Auditions are required for BFA majors, including the preparation and choreography of an original piece. The emphasis of the program is contemporary, though you will also study classical/ballet. You also will be required to take music classes. The degree is aimed for those intending to be professional dancers or choreographers. If you’re a serious dance student, your private instructor would be familiar with the program, it’s demands, and your strength as an applicant. Because dance is a “professional” degree (BFA, which means bachelor of fine arts, implying a lot of studio work) I do not believe you can minor. Start your research here:

PS - There is generally an unbelievable number of performance opportunities at SOM – both as part of the programs and casually. Just take a look sometime at their schedule of events.
