My daughter is thinking of studying abroad for a semester. She wants a dance program (any kind, but modern preferably), but she also wants to study the culture. Maybe just living in another country would be enough. She will ask her adviser for recommendations of course, but does anyone here have any ideas?

Is she already in college or still looking at schools? Goucher College now requires all students to study abroad, including their dance majors. Also, I believe Muhlenberg has an arrangement that allows dancers to study a semester in Florence.
Dancers at Ohio State told us about their experiences studying in Costa Rica and Africa. There are opportunities out there for sure, but they sometimes take a little digging.

Yes, she’s a freshman and she probably is aiming to study abroad junior year, so there’s time. Do you know if other colleges share their study abroad programs? I did a year abroad when I was in college (many years ago), but in those days the college made all the arrangements for its own students.

University of Limerick ,Ireland has Modern Dance study abroad programs .
