im trying to find a good summer intensive. im hoping to find one thats not just ballet and modern. offers good jazz also. thanks

Point Park University is known for its strength in all three areas, particularly jazz. According to their site, they have one audition date left (April 5th), and permit video auditions: [International Summer Dance :: Point Park University](http://www.pointpark.edu/default.aspx?id=533)

Syracuse University is trying to strengthen its summer dance program, and may have openings left (they’ve had late openings for the last two years): [Summer Dance Intensive | Syracuse University](http://uc.syr.edu/ballet4/program.htm)

I think it’s late to be auditioning for this summer, though I’m sure there are openings available in some programs. Most ballet summer intensives offer a smattering of jazz and modern, though the primary focus is ballet. Maybe a google search for university summer dance programs that includes the word “jazz” would help you find a list. Also, some private studios do excellent summer dance intensives - is there a particular location you’d like?

I second Point Park. As long as your dancer is over 16 they can dorm there but under 16 they have to make other arrangements. My understanding of the PP program is that dancers are evaluated and placed in every genre separately as they understand that a strong tapper may not be strong in ballet and vice versa.

The Syracuse program is not very old and IDK much about it but I have heard on other boards that people like it very much. I was of the understanding it is more ballet focused but I could be wrong.

CPYB and the Rock both offer several different types of classes I believe are still taking applicants as well. The Rock has a jazz intensive as well.

My daughter is auditioning for the intensive this weekend at Point Park. It is very good at all three. If you find no more audition dates you can go to U Arts in Philly. They will level you when you get there.
