Dartmouth Class of 2027 Official Thread

We did have an update but it was in early December.

are you sure about that? I was told that every school runs the numbers differently. For example the formula for say CALTECH isnā€™t the same formula they use at a state school. What one schools considers an asset isnt the same as what another school considers an asset.

Thatā€™s what FAFSA email said. They said one of the schools FA office updated the SAR and I assumed FAFSA will share that new SAR with the rest of the schools listed on our app. Is that not the case?

Ya, No they donā€™t share that with other schools. They all calculate the aid different. Needs based schools have a different formula then non needs based. etc.

Thanks! Thatā€™s good information. The SAR that UCLA calculated was more than what FAFSA originally calculated, so I was a little bummed when I thought it would be shared with other schools tooā€¦ lol

My son has 2 friends that were accepted to UCLA. GREAT KIDS!!! They too were bummed. Im convinced theres a method to the FASFA madness (my opinion) that I just cant afford to attain. I will say that from what I know and the kids I know that have been accepted to UCLA its shaping up to be a great class. I know 7 people total that have been accepted from different states and all deserve it, theyā€™re all self starters.

@anna2023 No. The Ivy League does not offer academic or athletic scholarships, only financial aid

Dates in the portal for us -
Early January for FAFSA and CSS
Very end of February (same date for all) for other items (Tax documents etc.)
Good luck to everyone.

So since all of mine are dated so long ago, could I conclude that I probably havenā€™t gotten in then?

No.

We also have 9, and the most recent dates are that 5 of them are 2/20. Wish some were in March but we arenā€™t going to qualify for aid anyways, based on what has happened with other schools so far. Hopefully they decided that and thatā€™s why we have no march datesā€¦

Only 2
CSS
and they are requesting the tax income return statement for 2021

Seems like a good sign. Iā€™m also an intl but I only have the CSS profile, no income docs.

Yep, same here. We arenā€™t going to qualify for any aid, seeing what UCLA gave us - $0. But I do believe private schools (especially some Ivys) give out better aid than state schools like UCLA. My daughter got a full ride at GA Tech, but that isnā€™t her top choice, unfortunately. So, I am hoping if she gets into any of her top choices, they give us at least some money. Thatā€™ll make me feel a little better  :crossed_fingers:
