Dartmouth, Georgetown, or Vanderbilt scholarship???

Hey everyone! I was accepted to Dartmouth and Georgetown, and I received two scholarships to Vanderbilt - the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship and the Curb Scholarship. The Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship is a full tuition scholarship that about 60 kids get and are automatically "college scholars" (kinda like an honors college) and you get $6K for research. The Curb Scholarship is a new program currently comprised of 6 kids that are in charge of creative enterprise and public policy on campus. They have "salons", or special classes and one on one interviews with people like the creator of Rock Band and internationally famous musicians. They also are guaranteed summer internships at either DC, Hollywood, or NYC totaling $10K. So basically Vanderbilt is paying me to go to their school. I dont really know what I want to study - I know I am strong in the maths/sciences but I love the social sciences and arts (I do debate, piano, etc). So the basic question is - will Dartmouth provide me with the opportunities that Vanderbilt already guarantees? How can I stand out at Dartmouth (where as at Vanderbilt I already have outstanding recognition)? And also Georgetown... its cool haha

sounds to me like you have already made your choice. Vanderbilt has given everything you needed. Those other schools haven’t. What is there to think about?

your scholarship to vanderbilt is enormous if money is an issue definitely vandy. vandy is the “worst” school among those but honestly all three great options. you really can’t go wrong. remember that dartmouth will be a lot colder than dc or nashville lol

Actually, Vanderbilt is ranked higher than Georgetown on USN&WR’s rankings.

Anyways, congratulations HYPNotised. If I were you, I’d pick Vanderbilt. I’m a Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship recipient, and it’s nice knowing that I won’t have to pay much for undergrad. The only thing that frustrates me is that I wasn’t given “college scholar” status since I applied to the School of Engineering, and that program is only for the College of Arts and Sciences. But now, I’ve decided to transfer to A&S, so you can probably understand my frustration there…

Also, while the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship is nice financially, that’s about all you get (from my experience so far). As someone who turned down Harvard for the CV Scholarship, I’ve been a tad miffed that they don’t offer us perks and attention that comparable scholarships at other schools offer (priority registration, priority housing, etc.). To get to the point, I don’t really feel as if I “stand out” automatically because of the CV Scholarship.

Considering your scholarships and options though, I would still go to Vanderbilt in a heartbeat over the other two schools. It’s just a better deal all-around.
