Dartmouth IDOC Institutional Specific Docs?

I don't know if anybody has checked out the IDOC services yet, but I just got my e-mail today and saw that Dartmouth has some institutional documents.

I'm a little confused on which I HAVE to fill out and which ones I can disregard.

There are two that are there (well three, with the Canadian one, but that doesn't apply to me for sure):
1. 2009-2010 Authorization Form
2. Application for Renewal Financial Aid

***Also, for any people that were chosen for Verification, you guys are filling out the 2008-2009 Verification Worksheet, right? I thought it was 2009-2010, but the link that they provided me was 2008-2009.

I'm a prospective freshman, so I think I should only be filling out the first one, but I don't know about the second. I thought it didn't apply to me because it's a renewal, but somewhere in the middle of the first or second page, it mentions first-year applicants, so now, I'm a little lost.

If anybody can provide me some feedback on this, that would be great! I'll be calling them tomorrow directly to make sure, but it would give me some peace of mind if I got some advice from some people with first-hand experience in this.

how do we know if we are chosen to fill out a verification?

FAFSA should have sent you an e-mail or mail that gave a quick summary of what you need to do after you've finished, and there's is an asterisk of some type next to your EFC, I believe, which indicates that you were chosen for verification.

It's an easy two pages to do, so don't fret about it too much.

It's just that I'm confused on whether or not I have the right year :|

Ok, I just checked and I am required to. So I send the verification to IDOC? Do I have to wait till 2008 tax return comes out before I can fill out the verification form?

Did you get the IDOC e-mail yet?
If not, you're going to get an e-mail soon which gives you the instructions to finish your verification.

It's basically two pages, you print it out, fill it out, and then send it in with the rest of your package to the IDOC. (all the instructions are on the site).

I received it already, so if it shows up on my required material list, I have to fill it out?

Yes.

And if anybody happens to be applying to Dartmouth, please help me out with these simple questions : )

My S was admitted ED to Dartmouth and I received the exact same IDOC message today. I don't have any answers for you--I assumed that we only fill out the 2009-2010 authorization form (from the institution specific list) as he is a new student. However we also are asked for the verification info and they are asking for 2007 tax returns. If you get an answer from Dartmouth tomorrow, it would be great if you post it so we don't all have to call.

You fill out the 2009-2010 authorization form and you submit a signed copy of your parents 2008 tax returns (yes, it means that they must do their taxes early this year if you want to get a financial aid).

So of the Dartmouth IDOC Institutional Specific Docs, we only need to send in the 2009-2010 authorization form (and not the Application for Renewal Financial Aid form) if we are prospective freshmen, right?

How do you have a signed copy if you file electronically by tax software?

CollegeBoard IDOC cover asks to send: Signed 2008 IRS Form 1040 (Pages 1 & 2). I don't see any signature space on 1040 Page 1. Is this confusing?

Thanks for all of your feedback.

Polarize - yes, only the authorization form

coolweather - You'll have to contact the IRS and ask for a copy I believe? The signature page will be on Page 2 only.

Junine - When you file income tax using tax software (eg Turbo Tax), the tax software does not send any signature. The software can print Form 1040 for record keeping but there is no signature on the form.

Your parents print a copy of your taxes from turbo tax and sign them and submit them withthe idoc paperwork.

yes, if you are a freshman, you do not send in the renewal paperwork.

I have a question for you guys. Yesterday I got my IDOC log in info and printed the docs I need to submit, but I saw that Dartmouth has some Institutional specific docs such as the first year authorization form. Should I submit this form? I ask you this, because though I apply to Dartmouth, my IDOC doesn’t show that they require my files. It shows only one of the other colleges I am applying to…
