Dartmouth Loves Yale

i know i just wrote on this thread but just wanted to add that dartmouth was my first choice school for most of high school since i believed that i had no possible shot in ever getting into Yale (which ive loved since birth practically) until recently when i learned to ignore everyone around me.

Applying to an ivy in the Midwest in rough. Everyone just looks at you and goes "what a d-bag"....that is unless you're the perfect student.

David- I definitely see how an girl from Korea would fnd Dartmouth "boring." The party/ sense of humor/ college culture in the US is unique and might be intimidating at almost any school not in a city. I totally understand how an international who doesn;t drink would strongly prefer a city that is more similar to the way they hang out.

really? you all are debating which ivy league school is the crappiest?

First of all, that video was hilarious!!! Definitely worth the 6 minutes. :)

Secondly... I actually really like Cornell. It's my second choice, after Yale. What do you guys think is so horrible about it?

Cornell has a long tradition of promoting American nobility to study alongside top students of unremarkable breeding lineages. Some yalies might not like that?

But seriously, what is so awful about Cornell? Why is it the "worst" Ivy?
Is it because Cornell has the highest acceptance rate? Cornell's by far the biggest and therefore the least selective. Also, a lot of its programs are very fit-based and if you don't fit, you'll be rejected even if you have amazing stats.

I dont like judging entire student bodies, but I constantly hear about how Cornell is the most arrogant of all the Ivies even though its the easiest to get into and are always throwing their ivy league status in your face.

But Cornell is still an amazing school, so i dont want to be too critical.

Cornell: Where the Berkeley rejects go.

lol at OneKingOneLife :)

Yea...Extremely long winters + middle of nowhere-ness + extremely high bridge + highest successful suicide rate = doesn't quite excite me as much as other Ivies do....:P And I know a couple Cornell students and they both hate it there.

Oh well, to each his/her own. If Cornell is someone's dream school and if they really like it, it's the best school for them.

I've never heard any of that bad stuff about Cornell. A bunch of my friends have had overnight visits and fell in love with the place.

well, as I said again, to each his own. My friends who go there and I live near a major urban city/metropolitan area, so that might have been a factor vs. people who've been living in a rural area all their life. Who knows. :P
