I first visited this school when my sister was looking at colleges and I am absolutely in love with it.
Also with that I plan on plalying lacrosse all four years, scored in the 92 percentile when I took the SATs last year, and I have already started serving at the homless shelter near me once a week and the cat shelter near me once a month. I also intend on continuing girl scouts through high school. So is there anything that I should change about my scedule? Also what would you reccomend for extracurriculars?

Mad props to you for planning ahead so early in your high school career. It will serve you well down the road. What you have here looks good to me…you seem to be (or at least believe you are) a well-rounded student, which is attractive to any college. It would of course help if you maybe took an independent study course in your latter years of high school or even took courses (over the summer, possibly) at a local university to display your passion for a particular subject, but don’t feel like you have to do this. As for extracurriculars, keep up the non-required volunteer work, try to work up to a leadership position on the lacrosse team (captain?), and, if you are musically inclined, I would recommend joining the band, orchestra, choir, or any other musical body at your school. Colleges like musicians, or so I’ve heard…

You might also want your parents to consider hiring a weekly SAT/ACT tutor starting sophomore year or so. You’re clearly a gifted standardized test taker but, if you can afford it, a one-on-one help session every now and then could result in a very important increase in scores.

Good luck through high school…and one last piece of advice if I may: I too had my heart set on a school (it wasn’t Dartmouth) at the beginning of freshman year, but I sit here now as a high school senior without even having applied to that school I once thought I was in love with. So…although I agree with you that Dartmouth is a great school, I encourage you to keep your mind open to other schools and, likewise, other classes, activities, clubs, etc. Try new things, and make your high school years count! If you do, you’ll end up at the right school, I promise.

Thanks so much, I do play both Clarinet and Piano but wasn’t planning on continuing into high school, maybe i’ll rethink my decision.
