Dartmouth Transfer Thread Fall 2019

So acceptance rates for the last two years have been 0.5% and 1.5%…Looking dreary.

Didn’t you know that when you applied? lol @“College? Nah…”

Used to be a lot better just a few years ago: ~10% (if I remember correctly).

Now it’s crazy.

Yeah, apply just to try…

Yup…

I think that it’s all pretty unpredictable either way.

Yeah I agree. It could be a good year for transfer students…either way, I think what is predictable is my inevitable rejection.

I do think it has potential to be a good year for transfer students too, especially with the focus on top school admissions as it pertains to low-income, middle-income, and other people who don’t have many advantages in the application process.
Still, these are reach schools with difficult admissions. For me, if I’m optimistic and get attached to the idea- it hurts if I’m rejected and if I’m pessimistic- it still hurts if I’m rejected… so might as well spend the next week or two with high hopes and imagination because the result will have the same effect either way.

Might as well dream while it’s still uncertain

Good luck to you man! And everyone else.

Good luck to you! Why does Dartmouth appeal to everyone?

For me, it was a number of things… their campus/location/student personality was the best fit of any school I applied to, 'cause I’m the outdoors, woodsy, explorer type- I love being in nature. I want to go into Environmental Science and Public Policy, so their flexibility was awesome plus their field trips for Earth Science are a total dream. Their diversity and commitment to causes I care about was another huge thing for me. Plus their proximity to political/election stuff.

I just applied for luck…

I know this is a bit unorthodox but on Gossip Girl, Blair and Serena got their admissions decision over text from Yale. What I’m asking is, is it possible that decisions could be released any other way than an email in real life? lol

Dartmouth spoils their undergrads.

As a pre-med, they offer undergrads with amazing opportunities. They even have a rule that if a pre-med wants to use their fMRI (for research purposes), then that pre-med actually has priority over medical students.

I am also quite fond of the quarter system and the D-Plan.

BTW I am a neuroscience major, (thinking about minoring in computer science)

@sproutedchiapet Yup! Numbers was a big thing for me too. I’m currently at a small liberal arts college surrounded by farmland…and I kind of like it, but it doesn’t have all the resources I need. The dedication to undergraduate education was what piqued my interest…I applied to Swarthmore, too, for similar reasons. Hope you get in man!
@sam21stone It’s very unlikely…A letter (hardcopy) is the only possibility I can think of, unless you know someone in admissions.

Was an email sent out in advance alerting applicants of the decision release date?

I don’t think so, at least I haven’t gotten one.

I didn’t get any email from them except the transfer supplement

alright, so I’ve officially either gotten a date of release, or a decision for every school I’ve applied to except Dartmouth.

I take it you’ve inquired with them?
