I was fortunate to be accepted to all these schools, but am having a hard time making a decision, Each of the schools has advantages. I probably want to pursue either mechanical or aero engineering, but am not 100 percent. As such, need to ensure the college has other strong options, such as business. Thanks
Can speak to Dartmouth in this instance - I switched my major from Engineering to Neuroscience 2.5 years in when I realized I didn’t want to do engineering anymore. Dartmouth’s liberal arts focus allowed me to make that switch so late since I had already been exposed to all the other prereq classes, and I had taken enough other classes to know what I wanted to switch into right away. The Thayer school was also a great resource for undergrad engineers - you get graduate level professors and resources available to you as a freshmen. Dartmouth would be stronger in mechanical than aero - no one I knew really did aero and that might be because there wasn’t any real curriculum for it specifically
If you look at any rankings for engineering, Northwestern is ranked highest, followed by Rice/Duke, and both Notre Dame and Dartmouth are rated low.
In any private school, you will find graduate level engineering faculty teaching undergrads (including freshmen). Public schools with massive undergrad programs can be a different story, with a lot of lecturers and TAs handling introductory classes.
By the way, I doubt any of these schools has a separate Aero program.
