Dartmouth vs. Williams

I was accpted to both Williams and dartmouth. Which offers better academics for someone who plans on going to med school or law school. I think I want to major in Politics/Government. How is social life, dorm conditions, and overall friendliness? Please any comments will do

These are both great schools. You should visit both and see which one you like better, but you can't go wrong either way.

What jrpar said. mb, are you unable to visit? For your stated interests, either will be exceptional. It seems that nearly half of Williams students have to make this choice. It really comes down to "feel." And even that can be a tough call between these two schools.

You have to visit, there is no other way to know. By the way, how many times and places have you posted this? If you don't know what you think from reading all the threads already posted making these comparisons, you'll get no fresh advice now.

Go. Look.

Just know this.. both are cold in the winter (duh), but Dartmouth has its own ski resort 20 minutes from campus. Yet, williams is the superior athletic school, one of the best in Division III in the nation. Both are small. There are no frats at Williams.. not sure about dartmouth.

But yea, u have to go and check it out

frats are huge at dartmouth, but they have open parties and aren't elitist at all (from what people tell me). miamiboy, williams and dartmouth are my top two choices, and i also still can't decide. i visited williams in the fall (pretty good overall experience, went to an awesome party, but someone got alcohol poisoning and it wasn't even 10pm yet... that was kind of sad). i'm pretty sure i'm going to dimensions, so i guess that'll help me decide (which reminds me... need to call D up).

mb, there is huge overlap between Dartmouth and Williams -- academically, socially, environmentally. Basically Dartmouth is bigger, has frats and is an ivy. If any of these is important to you (or the opposite) then your path is clear. My son goes to Williams and has had an amazingly good experience. Williams will deliver on all of your requirements. You can't make a bad choice here. Try to visit.
