Date of Admission Decision From UT Austin

I applied to UT Austin in November but wasn't automatically accepted because of my rank. I wanted to know when I would get my decision of admission so I looked on UT's website and they said that they would send out decisions in late May. This wouldn't be a problem, as I don't mind waiting, except for the fact that the two schools I have already been accepted to, A&M and Baylor, have a deadline of May 1st to enroll. I searched online and saw that UT usually sends out decisions in February on online forums, which was a repeated trend throughout my searches. Therefore, I was wondering if UT said late May in order to give themselves room in case they need it, or if they really will send decisions that late, or if anybody has more accurate info. Thanks in advance.

I think the final round of fall admission offers come in late February, and your decision to accept the offer of admission must be made by May 1. At the same time in February, UT also invites some who were not offered admission in the final round to join the wait list. It is those who join the wait list that will learn of an admission decision after May 1. So, I think you should hear something one way or another by late February. At least that’s how I read it. See the following link: [Freshman Wait List | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/freshmen/admission/waitlist).

I see what you mean, though, about the possibility of a decision at the end of May–which is what this link says. [After You Apply | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/after-you-apply)
But the previous link makes more sense. It indicates late February is “usually” the date for the announcing the last round of fall admission decisions. I’d count on that and keep checking your application status using your UT EID. "The Office of Admissions invites selected students to join the wait list at the same time we release the final round of fall admission offers, usually in late February. Here’s a timeline of how the wait list process works:

Wait list offers are delivered to summer/fall freshman applicants by March 1.
Invited students are asked to accept or decline the invitation to be on the wait list by April 1.
The Office of Admissions then makes decisions about who to admit from the list as soon as space becomes available in the entering class.
Wait list decisions are not likely to be made until after May 1.
We expect to make all decisions about the students on the wait list no later than Wednesday, May 15, 2013."

Alright, thanks for clearing that up, that makes a lot more sense.

There is admission to UT, and there is admission to major. They are different since some majors are impacted and have limited enrollment.

May 1 is the official date when all admitted students nationwide have to notify universities if they accept or decline offers. And for some impacted /most popular majors it’s the date when UT can say for sure if there are any spaces left for these impacted majors or the enrollment already reached the limit.

Also, some students who originally accepted but were on the waitlist in other universities can inform UT later that they are not going to attend.

I remember that some students told here that they were offered spots in engineering right before the orientation or during orientation, so it was probably June.

Your link is for transfer students, by the way, not freshmen

That’s right as to the last link, Ya Ya, and there’s no comparable link for freshmen. But the first link – the one for wait list info that quotes a February decision date – is for freshmen. As I said, I’d count on that and keep checking UT EID. Most decisions are going to be made by then.

Would anyone happen to know the exact dates they are going to or tend to tell you if you’re admitted?

That’s what i wanna know

lol im so getting rejected

I asked the admissions counselor for my area and she said that all admissions decisions will be out no later than March 1…
