Talk crap all you want about Tucson and its citizens. I already know all the bad things about Tucson. That is why I am leaving! I think most of us Tucsonans are bad drivers, not just the old people. I am probably a bad driver too, but I don't notice so much because so many of Tucsonans drive bad. Warning: if you plan on visiting Tucson, be very careful with the drivers. There are so many people that turn out in front of me when I am like two seconds away from them.

I am bored of this thread. I think we pretty much exhausted both arguments. I now see that I was insensitive on some of my comments. Let's end it at that.

By the way, what exactly is "sensitivity training." Do they just tell you that you should be careful what you say?

Hey guys, I want to apologize for my posts. I just read through them again and realized how stupid/ childish I sounded. I really should not have said that in the first place, (1) because it was insensitive to the students and their parents and (2) because it wasn't true and I made a generalization based on a very small sampling of the student body. I think I said that comment in the first place out of haste. I kinda have been like that this past year. I have been a jerk and it has cost me a lot this year. I know that I need to change this. Thanks for pointing this out to me all the parents on cc. I will try to fix this.

don't apologize...you made an observation. I don't understand why people are being so anal...are they offended? I'm a girl, I'm going to Rice, it's not like someone just said that if you go to Rice, then you are by default ugly. And even if they did...what would that prove?? I've been told that there are no hot girls at Rice (nor at Yale...ha!). So what? Of course there are some girls you'd consider attractive at both schools. Why is everyone so worked up over this...get the hell over it.

BTW, there are no hot guys at Rice either XD

I hadn't said anything before, (and in all honesty, i really wasn't that offended) but as a female Rice student (who's not all that ugly!), I'm glad you came around. It's a hard thing to do, and you just showed a lot of maturity, I think.

torres: glad to hear that you are rethinking things...sorry if you felt that I was attacking you - that certainly wasn't my intent. Just really excited for d (who loved everything about Rice) and really don't want to hear any negatives (although I am sure that there are some!).

torres-
Very nice response. I had decided to just give it up after the Tucson response, because I wasn't planning to insult the Tucsonians, and thought you "didn't get it". But now I see that you do, and I respect you for your insight. If someone finds a comment distasteful, whether we agree or not we should respect each other's opinions. So angel, yes, some people did find the flip comments somewhat offensive. If you disagree with that. Fine. Just be polite about it. When you get to Rice, be nice. Negativity doesnt get you very far in this world.
