Daughter was accepted ... now the questions

So my daughter was accepted by Northeastern but I do have some pointed questions:

  1. In what year does the first coop begin?
  2. If a student does, say, 2 6-month coops, does it in fact take 5 years to graduate? If not, why not?
  3. When a student is on coop, do they have to keep their place in the dorms, or must they move out?
  4. While on coop, are you paying any enrollment or tuition fees to NEU?

There is a pinned topic above with an FAQ about the coops.

1-The earliest coop would be second semester of sophomore year starting in January for half the students. The other half would start coop July after sophomore year.

2-If a student chooses to do 2 coops most programs can be completed in 4 years. Here are some patterns of coop under “Sample Patterns of Attendance”.
https://www.khoury.northeastern.edu/current-students/undergraduate/undergraduate-co-op/
This can vary depending on major. ***

3-About half the coop jobs are in the Boston area. If your student gets a job in the Boston area she can continue to live on campus. She can choose to live off campus of course.

4-While on coop there is no payment to Northeastern for tuition or fees. If she chooses to live on campus while on coop she would pay the regular room and board charges.

***Just realized those patterns are for Khoury CS but it is similar for other programs.

@LMK5 HI there! I read on another thread that your D received NHRP Merit at NE. My S will be a senior next year. He submitted the application to verify his GPA (above the required 3.50. I was wondering if thorough your experience you consider or came across of other schools that would consider NHRP Merit. We are also from CA but being of competitive our UC schools are, we would like to have options next fall. Thank you in advance for your help.

@califmom23 , There are lots of schools that give NHRP scholarships. Here are 2 threads that address the topic: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/hispanic-students/2102381-nhrp-2019-college-scholarship-list-p1.html
