Daughter with Celiac disease, needs Gluten Free dining options

My older D was at Syracuse without Celiac but we visited often with my younger D who is…dining halls were very helpful; I think there is a actually a student support group as well…food services is your best contact info…

There is a Chipolte on Marshall Street, Wegmans all over the place, and other GF resources throughout the area…

Oberlin has a system of cooperative dining halls where the kids do their own coooking. Some of them offer gluten free meals.

We recently visited U of Arkansas and I was pleased to find entire, separate, gluten free station in the dining hall. (The lady there said that many vegetarians stop by also, for their custom stir fries.)

Ohio State’s cafes and grills that I’ve been to offer gluten-free sandwiches or bun options on burgers, etc.

Thank you Rodney. I will contact Food Services first and will look into the student support group. I am probably more nervous about this than she is, but I just want to make sure the school (meal plan) provides enough options and is well educated on cross contamination, etc. According to my daughter, as long as there is a Chipolte on Marshall Street, she’ll be fine!

I know of three schools that have great gluten free dining. Elon, Furman and University of San Diego. All three had extensive choices. Elon had color coded cutting boards and utensils, Furman has a special area for gluten free sandwiches and pizzas to be prepared. USD had a lot of dining choices and also their snack area was loaded with GF items. I do think more and more schools, as well as dining establishments, are becoming GF friendly.

I think a call to dining services will be helpful. I am sure each school will do its best to make your student aware of the possiblilites.
