<p>I applied for a Davidson (in Science) this past year, and I am waiting on the result.
Essentially, the Davidson submission process is really, really intense. As a result, the competition is highly self-selecting.
Even though the submission deadline is in March, you would really want to finish your actual pieces by the end of the year, if not before. The essay and video components are very time-consuming, so pace yourself in that regard.
Also try figuring out who your nominators will be soon, so that you won’t have to panic late in the game.
I have a friend who won a $25,000 prize in 2008, and she finished up really early so that she could polish the work.
If you stick with it and plan your time well, you’ll probably be successful.</p>
