Davis and UCSD will have a transfer waitlist.

^ I fully agree

@pokeprad believe me you are better off at moorpark. Pierce is awful right now

■■■■■ @ this thread being majority UCSD transfers.

swag me out!

@rshie002 I’m taking French 3. Moorpark only goes up to French 2.

@pokeprad I go to Moorpark! And I drive from there to Pierce for my one class, so I (sort of) feel your pain.

I think you are all looking at the “waitlist” in completely the wrong way. If you read more about this waitlist you will see that the UC campuses are doing it for one reason and one reason only; to accept MORE people.

Every year UC’s send out a certain number of acceptace letters and hope that enough people sign their SIRs to fill all of the open spots for each major. However, what normally ends up happening at the UC’s (other than UCB and UCLA) is that not enough students sign their SIRs and there are a few spots in a few majors that are left unoccupied.

The wait list is disigned to give some applicant a “second chance” of sorts. This means that if your major still has a few spots after all the SIRs are collected then those on the waitlist will be offered official acceptance letters.

You guys should be happy about this - especially those of you who are borderline and do not have TAG. The UC campuses are simply trying to maximize the number of students in which they can accept this year.

@TonyPreMed2013, I believe the UCs have every intention to make the waitlist work to the advantage of the students, but unfortunately they have not proved themselves coordinated enough to handle this apparently complex process. There was a huge uproar last year because many UCs mishandled the freshman waitlist (such as accepting students on appeal before pulling students off the waitlist, not being able to pull any students off the waitlist, etc.). I’m just concerned that the transfer waitlist will be a repeat performance of what happened last year to the freshman waitlist.

This makes me so nervous. I’m a transfer without a tag; waiting to hear back from Davis and San Diego.

Anyone else concerned with getting accurate information from a blog?
