I just got my housing assignment and it says that I'm in a De Neve Triple with no mention of the bathroom situation. Does that mean it's private?

Also, how do I get a different kind of dorm? I wanted a triple in a residence hall because it is the cheapest and there is no way in hell I'm going to pay extra for a triple plaza room with a private bath when i don't even want it...

Do I accept the offer first and then file a request for a different room? Or should I call in?

BTW: Random, but how important is the honors program? (I heard they cut the priority registration thing...)

All plaza buildings are coed. They are 3-5 or so story buildings and all have either private bath rooms for each room (I believe De Neve rooms all have a private bath) or shared bathroom between 2 rooms (so 4-6 people sharing depending whether they are doubles or triples). Sunset Village (Delta Terrace, Canyon Point, Courtside) have a mixture of shared and private bathrooms. My daughter is in Canyon Point and shares a bath with the room adjoining hers… (both triples, so 6 people sharing the bath). There is a very long counter with 2 sinks, a separate shower room with door and a separate tiolet room with door. It works out great.

My D’s room had its own bathroom so when she was in a triple it was 3/bathroom. Some of the other plazas have a bathroom shared between 2 rooms so if each room was a triple there’d be 6/bathroom. I don’t know if all of DeNeve was like my D’s room with a private but you s/b able to find some of this online.

They say that plazas are less social but how social it really is will be up to the people living there. Because of the bathrooms in the rooms there’s less walking back and forth to bathrooms so there’d be less running into someone randomly in the hallways. However, some people leave their door open encouraging people to stop in and some don’t. Current students will be able to give a better idea but it’s all a generalization. If someone plans to spend all their time playing video games, head down doing HW with their ipod on, or watching TV or IM’ing constantly, and never going to floor functions, they probably won’t be socializing much. If you want to socialize, just make an effort.
