I am going into my senior year and am looking at Ivy league and equivalent schools. My grades and test scores are on par with all of the top schools, but of course, these days that is not enough. I throw the discus for track and this past season I threw 149’2. I have been approached by several D3 schools that I don’t wish to attend, but I think discus may help me get into some schools I am looking at. MIT has a 150’ recruitment standard, Columbia is155’, and UPenn is 165’. Penn is my first choice of school and I plan on applying there ED. I am 16’ feet off from hitting their standard but I have been working over the summer and plan on throwing this fall (too many concussions to play football again) and I think I may be able to hit that standard by October or November. When are the typical deadlines for coaches to help a student through admissions? I am not sure if it is the same for most schools or do I have to reach out to the coach?
