Just wanted to post a note about Dean College. WOW. is all I can say. We went to their Meet Dean Day. This college is something else. From the Dean down to the students. All staff take a vested interest in the kids and want all students to succeed. As a parent I would not hesitate to send my child there. Any student, especially a student that struggles with school is welcome and helped there. We were there specifically for dance. Joan Palladino, the dean of dance, is the most warm, loving individual. Alot of people shy away from Dean because they do not have a live audition. Dont! Her philosophy is that if you have a bad day during an audition then you are out. She wants to give all students a fair try. By using the tape audition, it levels the playing field for everyone. We also liked that they place equal value on all dance styles. Ballet, modern, jazz and tap. She even mentioned hip hop. I dont know if this will be my daughters first choice because she wants an urban setting but please give it a look.

Dancerinpa, Where else is your daughter considering?

my dd is considering: Point Park, University of the Arts, Shennandoah and Chapman college in CA. How about you?

Hi, Possibly University of Arizona, but she’ll probably figure more out in the fall. Does Dean have an audition for admission?

Hi. they have a video audition. When I asked why they dont have live audition she stated that she wants to give all of the kids an equal chance of doing well. If you have an off day when you audition live too bad. She wants to see the kids relaxed and at their best. I cant tell you enough good stuff about Dean. I loved it. My dd not so much. I think she wants more city. But a very lovely campus.
