haha, I just got rejected by Stanford and I was browsing the forums and came across this thread and thought, "who would want Yale to pull a Stanford?" People were being slaughtered left and right haha.
Well, best of luck to all of you and may you fare better than I did.

.....wow......and i still thought i had a reasonable chance

i've just been watching so many people get rejected. Dartmouth on Wed night. Columbia, Brown, and Cornell on Thurs night. Penn this afternoon. And now its Stanford...these last few days truly have been an eye-opening experience regarding college admissions.

I'm re-taking the ACT tomorrow and now im really starting to think it doesnt matter (but i really need to start preparing for my many other RD apps now)

^Kudos to you, Manzagal3, for keeping everything in perspective. The RD round is usually much more gracious for everyone. I'm sure, as you are as well, that you'll have a great undergraduate experience.

I'll expect to be doing the same thing if the outcome is less than uhmazing on Monday.

I'm having such a weird week, watching my friends experience this roller coaster. One accepted to Brown, one accepted to Columbia, one deferred at Brown, TWO rejected from Penn. One apparently just found out about Stan; need to call him! My other buds are hearing back from Emory, Univ. of Chicago and Georgetown soon. And...I'm still freaking over Yale. :|

My condolences go out to my fellow CCers that got rejected by Stanford.

Have a really, really fun Sunday. Either you will be on cloud nine for several hours to days depending on who you are, or, a small part of you will just die.

In the end, we will all end up somewhere happy. My orchestra stand partner was just telling me a few hours ago how she got rejected by her dream school- Brown- but then went to Tufts where she met her husband. They are happily married with kids.

Manzagal3- "parental units" lol. Soz about the results though =(

Haha seriously, the earlier-than-expected decisions seemed like a good thing at first, but now this thread's name seems really horrible...

Wow. I am so scared about Yale decisions. That Stanford thread is absolutely brutal... I've never, ever seen anything like it.

Don't be scared!
It's not that bad in retrospect. The email from Stanford had a kind of fake-pity tone to it, but besides that it wasn't too bad. My favourite part of it:
"I know this is disappointing news to receive and for that reason we will not send a duplicate notification of this decision by mail"

Psh I want to get it by mail, because then they would have to pay for postage AND printing the letter, so I would at least be taking money away from them after my parents had to pay to visit, apply, send test scores, etc.

That's a different way of looking at it, Manzagal3. Can't say I would've seen it that way, but you make a good point. As long as you recycle the letter afterward... :) (environmentalist)

The Stanford committee throws applications into the air and accepts the ones they catch.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of Yale people seep into the Stanford forum trying to observe the hell of a car accident that happened (more like a freaking nuke explosion), so I came here to this forum to see how the Yale people are holding up.

The name of this thread doesn't seem so nice anymore, but I'm sure many of us from the Stanford forum are wishing you guys luck that Yale DOESN'T pull a Stanford. Even though I didn't apply EA to either Stanford or Yale, I seriously am hoping nothing terrible happens for the MIT/Yale decisions on Monday. I honestly do NOT want to see another blood bath of any sort again -- there's been too many of them.

Hey guys,

Good luck from the Stanford board - scores are not everything ; I only had a 2200 and was deferred =( .
